So often, in the past as well, a visit to a bookshop has cheered me up and reminded me that there are good things in the world.
My books are, of course, easily available from the usual online suspects and we all love a lower price – but here’s a plea to support independent book sellers too. The serendipity of chance discoveries that bookshops can bring – and the love of the tangible book – are irreplaceable. A bookshop is an Aladdin’s cave of chance encounters. I remember with fondness the bookshop of my childhood as a place where I stumbled upon wonderful things and opened my eyes to new worlds.
